The Advanced Search Tool is used to find sequences in the Alphavirus Sequence Database that match the search criteria. Single selection may    be made from both the "Virus-Strain" and "Protein" menu.The results will be displayed on the same page.

 

 BLAST Search Tool Help

The BLAST Search Tool is used to compare the users input sequence against the entire Alphavirus Sequence Database. BLAST finds regions of  local similarity between the input sequence and sequences in the database using the statistical significance of matches. BLAST can be used to  infer functional and evolutionary relationships between sequences as well as help identify members of gene families.
